How do I install Smiley Central?
Installing Smiley Central is easy! Just go to
http://www.smileycentral.com
and
click on the button. You will then get a Verisign pop-up that looks like this:

Click "Yes". Smiley Central will then finish
downloading! When installation is done, you will receive a confirmation message.

How do I upgrade to the current version of Smiley Central?
We often make improvements to Smiley Central that
require a free software upgrade.
To upgrade to our latest version at any time, go to:

Install errors
I use
Norton Internet Security, Zone Alarm, or similar firewall/proxy software and am
having trouble downloading Smiley Central. Why?
The most common problem when downloading or installing Smiley Central occurs
when running such software. If you are running one of these types of products,
try temporarily disabling it, then go back to
www.smileycentral.com to try
the download process again. You can reactivate your firewall/proxy software once
the download and installation of the toolbar and Smiley Central is
complete.

difficulties downloading Smiley Central through www.smileycentral.com, please try the
following:

- You will be

When I try to install, I'm told "It appears you already have Smiley Central."
Our system indicates that Smiley Central is already installed on
your computer. If you have not done so already, please try restarting your
computer. If you still do not see Smiley Central on your Web browser
please return to www.smileycentral.com and try downloading
again.
If you continue to see the "It appears you already have Smiley
Central" message after following the steps above,
click here to
visit our Upgrade page and download our latest version of Smiley
Central.

I no longer see the toolbar/Smiley Central button after I upgrade to the latest
version. In order to verify that your browser is set to allow the toolbar to be displayed, please try the
following:
- At the top of Internet Explorer, click on the "Tools" menu
- Select "Internet Options"
- On the resulting window, click the "Advanced" tab (in the
upper-right corner)
- Under "Browsing", check to see if there is a check mark in the
box next to "Enable third-party browser extensions (requires
restart)." If there is no check in this box, please click on it to
check it, then close and re-open your IE browser. My Web Search
(or My Total Search) should now be an option under "View -> Toolbars".

I am getting Error code 69031.
You may have received this error due to insufficient hard drive
space or a
fragmented hard drive. You may wish to run scan disk on your hard
drive to free up unallocated space and repair any disk errors.
After doing this, please try installing Smiley Central again. If
you continue to receive an error, please follow the instructions
below to uninstall Smiley Central with an uninstall application we have created.
1) Please
click here to download the uninstall application.
2)
You should be prompted to either open or save the file.
If you choose to open the file: An
uninstall procedure will follow. Please select the appropriate
options from the presented screen to remove this.
If you choose to save the file to your local
drive: Double-click on the saved file after the download is
complete. You will then be presented with the uninstall procedure.
Please select the appropriate options from the presented screen to
remove this.
Please note that you will continue to see the toolbar until you
close and reopen all instances of your Web browser or Explorer.

3) Select "My Web Search (Smiley Central)" or "My Total
Search (Smiley Central)"
4) Click "Remove." Smiley Central
and the toolbar have now been uninstalled.
If you downloaded Smiley Central prior to
March 11th:
Depending on when you downloaded Smiley Central, you may be
able to follow the steps above. If these do not work, please do the
following:
Web-based email users:
To remove Smiley Central and your toolbar, you must do the following:
1) From
your computer's Start button, select "Settings", then select "Control
Panel"
2) Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon
3) Select "My Web Search"**
4) Click "Remove." Smiley Central and the toolbar have now been
uninstalled.

Outlook, Outlook Express and IncrediMail users:
To remove Smiley Central and the navigation bar from your email
system, you must do the following:
1) From your computer's Start button, select "Settings", then select

3) Select "My Web Search (Outlook, Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)"**
4) Click "Remove." Smiley Central and the navigation bar have now
been uninstalled from your email system. (Click

Outlook Express, and IncrediMail)" or "My Way Speedbar (Outlook,

To remove Smiley Central and the toolbar from both your email system
AND your browser, you must do the following:

4) Click "Remove." Smiley Central and the toolbar have now been

How do I disable Smiley Central from individual applications?
Simply open Smiley Central and:
1) Click the "Preferences"
button at the top of your Smiley Central window
2) Click the link under the
"Enable/Disable" header
3) Check the box next to any application you wish to enable, uncheck
the box to disable
4) Click "Save Changes"
Be sure to close any applications you have open, then open for your
changes to take effect.

How do I remove the Smiley Central
promotional ad that appears
on my outgoing emails?
This promotional ad is a very
cost-effective way for us to spread the word about smileys and
to continue offering you thousands of smileys completely free of
charge. As such, we hope that you will keep
the promotional footer and continue to tell your friends about Smiley
Central.
We do understand, however, that the promotional footer isn't right for
everyone. If you would like it removed from your outbound emails,

and follow the simple instructions.

How do I disable
the feature which provides suggested search listings when I
mistype or enter an incomplete word or URL into my browser?
If you downloaded Smiley Central
after March 11th:
1) Find the "My Web Search" or "My Total Search"
button on your toolbar and click the down-arrow
2) Select "Enable/Disable Features"
3) Uncheck the box next to "Search Assistant"
4) Click "Save Changes"
The Search Assistant feature has been disabled. Close all your
browsers and open a new one for your change to take effect.
The steps above allow you to disable this feature. (You can enable it
in the future by following the same steps and checking the box next
to Search Assistant.) If you wish to uninstall Search Assistant from
your computer, you will need to uninstall Smiley Central and your
toolbar. To do so, please follow the steps in the question above.
If you downloaded Smiley Central
prior to March 11th:
1)
From your computer's Start button, select "Settings", then
select "Control Panel".
2) Double-click on the "Add/Remove Programs" icon.
3) Select "Search Assistant - My Way"**
4) Click "Remove." This toolbar feature has now been uninstalled.
**Some versions may say "Search Assistant - My Web Search."

I'm getting a Javascript error/blank window when uninstalling.
This can occur if you or a program running on your
computer removed a part or parts of the program by means other than
the uninstall process. You may have deleted the toolbar uninstall
